Our Head Minister
Reverend Kathleen Barnard
The youngest of ten children, Reverend Kathleen Barnard was born and raised
in Hamilton, Ontario, growing up in a diverse, multicultural neighborhood which afforded her the opportunity to learn about various religions and cultures.
Reverend Kathleen is a born humanitarian, always helping others on their journey, through her involvement in the community, her work in healthcare, and within our church. She strongly believes in the importance of helping others.
Her motto is: “No matter where you are in life, there is always someone who has less, so please remember to take the time to care for others”.
In the late 1990's, Reverend Kathleen formed a 300 member Tenant's Association, and was an active member of a government funded committee designed to help educate tenants of their legal rights.
As a business owner, working in Interior Decorating for many years, Reverend Kathleen had a change of direction, after the death of her mother in 2004. She chose to further her education in the field of healthcare. She felt the need to be of service on a deeper level, working with many of the most vulnerable in our society, our elderly, specializing in Dementia/Alzheimer's and Palliative care.
Reverend Kathleen was aware of spirit as early as the age of five years old. Her family moved to Hamilton when she was seven, at which time Rev. Kathleen attended Jesus of Nazareth Spiritual Church, located across the street from her childhood home. There, the church pastor taught her about the love of the spirit world, helping her to understand and grow her connection with the presence of spirit through her gifts of clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.
At the age of 13, Reverend Kathleen had her first experience of seeing the full manifestation of spirit in the home beside her childhood Spiritual Church.
Learning more about and developing her connection to the spirit world has always been a part of her life's path.
The grief of her mother's death deepened her desire to have a fuller understanding of life after death, which in turn led her through the doors of East Hamilton Spiritual Church.
Reverend Kathleen has been with East Hamilton Spiritual Church since 2005, and has worked hard to help see it grow and prosper. Her devotion to Spiritualism and EHSC has been unwavering. It has helped deepen her relationship with God and the Spirit World.
Reverend Kathleen serves as our Head Minister, and for over 17 years has been an active member of the church and the Board of Directors, previously sitting as church Secretary and Vice President, and continues to lead our church in her 10th year as President of EHSC.
Reverend Kathleen continues to facilitate classes and workshops in meditation, evidential mediumship development, spiritual healing, and serves EHSC on a regular basis, through our many services, workshops and events.
Reverend Kathleen has achieved her certificates as a Spiritual Healer, Evidential Medium, Podium Worker, and is the first official ordained Spiritual Minister by East Hamilton Spiritual Church, ordained on Mother's Day, May 8th, 2016.
Reverend Kathleen Barnard is a registered Marriage Officiate with the Province of Ontario and is available to officiate marriages. She is also available to officiate funeral/celebration of life ceremonies, naming ceremonies and any other services her gifts may help you with.
