Visiting the Church

—— ✦ ——

Do I need to book for a Sunday service?
No. Just come along. Workshops and some special events do need booking, and the Events page will say so.

What time are your services?
Our Sunday Morning Service is on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday Evening Services, Circles and Events run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Some Wednesdays are closed, so please check our Services page.

Where are you, and where can I park?
We are at 83 Ottawa Street North, Hamilton, Ontario L8H 3Y9, in the historic Ottawa Street district. There is street parking and municipal parking lots nearby, and HSR route 41 Mohawk (via Ottawa Street) stops close by. There are seven steps up to the front entrance.

Does it cost anything?
Sunday and Wednesday services have a collection, and you give whatever you wish. Workshops and classes have a set price, shown on the Events page.

What happens at a Sunday service?
Each service has spiritual healing, an inspirational talk and a demonstration of evidential mediumship, with music throughout. Afterwards, please stay for fellowship.

Will I be put on the spot?
No. If the medium has a message for you, they will ask if they can come to you, and you can simply say yes or no. Nobody has to stand up or speak.

What should I wear?
Whatever you're comfortable in.

Can I bring my children?
Yes, children are welcome.

Do I need to share your beliefs to come?
Not at all. Everyone is welcome, whatever their beliefs.

What if a service is cancelled?
We post any cancellations on our Facebook page.

Can I receive a message from the medium online?
Not at the moment. Online, you can join the service and the inspirational talk, and you will be sent absent healing.

Mediumship and Psychic Awareness

—— ✦ ——

What is mediumship?
Mediumship is communication with people who have passed into the Spirit World. A medium uses their sensitivity to receive information and passes on evidence, such as personality, memories and shared experiences, so the person receiving it can recognise who is communicating.

What is evidential mediumship?
Evidential mediumship brings forward recognisable information about the person in Spirit, such as their personality, memories, relationships and mannerisms. The purpose is not to give vague or general messages, but to help show that the individual lives on, in a way the recipient can recognise and feel.

What is the difference between a psychic and a medium?
Psychic awareness reads the energy of living people, places and situations. Mediumship is communication with the Spirit World, bringing forward evidence of a person in Spirit. All mediums use psychic senses, but not all psychics are mediums.

Can a medium tell me my future?
Mediums focus on connecting with loved ones in Spirit rather than predicting events. The future is not set in stone; it is shaped by your own free will and choices. A good medium will empower you, not dictate your path.

Are mediums always accurate?
No medium can be 100% accurate, 100% of the time. Mediums are human, and impressions can be lost in translation. The aim is to give enough evidence to show that life continues before a message is given.

What if I don't understand something, or need to say "no"?
That's perfectly normal. Sometimes the meaning becomes clear later. A good medium will work with you to clarify or explore the impression further.

Will I always hear from the loved one I hope to connect with?
Not necessarily. The communicator in Spirit chooses whether to respond and how. Not receiving a message doesn't mean there is no connection.

Is spiritual healing a replacement for my doctor?
No. Spiritual healing and mediumship are spiritual services, offered alongside medical care and never instead of it.

Developing Your Mediumship

—— ✦ ——

Can anyone develop psychic or mediumistic abilities?
Many people can develop their psychic and mediumistic awareness with the right teaching, practice and support. Development is not about becoming someone else; it is about understanding your own natural sensitivity and learning to work with it responsibly.

What does "sitting in the power" mean?
Sitting in the power is a meditative practice where you quieten your mind and open yourself to the power of Spirit. It builds the foundation for all psychic and mediumistic work.

How do I tell the difference between my own mind and Spirit?
Spirit communication often feels like a subtle knowing, a distinct feeling or clear images within, while your own mind tends to analyse and guess. Look for evidence you couldn't possibly know, such as facts, personality and shared memories.

How long does it take to become a medium?
Mediumship development is a lifelong journey, not a destination. It varies for each person, depending on their sensitivity, regular practice and dedication.

Where can I learn mediumship in Hamilton and Ontario?
East Hamilton Spiritual Church is a teaching church. We hold Wednesday evening development circles, workshops, classes and mediumship and healing training courses. See our Events page for what's coming up.

I've trained at the Arthur Findlay College in England. Can I keep developing in Canada?
Yes. Many Canadians travel to the UK to study mediumship, and you don't have to wait for your next trip to keep growing. Our workshops and classes in Hamilton focus on evidence, ethics and good mentoring.
