Our Journey: Over 100 Years of Spirit
The Foundation (1903-1921)
Born from a desire for spiritual freedom, a devoted group of seekers established East Hamilton Spiritual Church in 1903. By 1921, we built our first permanent home on Balmoral Street North, quickly becoming a global hub for Spiritualists traveling from across Canada, the USA, and the Europe.
A New Chapter (1974-Present)
In 1974, we moved to our current home at 83 Ottawa St. N. Our picturesque, cozy sanctuary sits in the heart of the historic Ottawa Street district, a vibrant neighborhood we are proud to call home.
We stand as Canada’s oldest Spiritual Church, keeping that same light of truth, burning for over a century. However, we aren’t about stuffy rules or rigid dogmas. We are an independent, non-profit community that values your personal journey. For over 100 years, we have provided a safe spiritual haven in the heart of Hamilton.
We believe that spirituality should be a lived experience, one that brings comfort, clarity, and proof that life and love are eternal. Whether you are seeking a moment of peace, a supportive community, or a deeper understanding of the soul's journey, our doors are open to you.
Guidance from the Heart
We are proud to be led by a dedicated team of Ordained Ministers. Our ministry is here to provide spiritual guidance, mentorship and support. Meet our Team.
Spiritualism in Action
Being a "charitable organization" isn't just a status, it's a commitment. When you join us, you support a community that feeds the hungry through Hamilton Food Share, provides a home for families in crisis through the Mark Preece Family House, and supports the meal programs through the 541 Eatery & Exchange.
Come join our church family and enjoy the wonderful essence of Spiritualism East Hamilton Spiritual Church has to offer.
1. Real Evidence
Through the practice of Mediumship, we provide a bridge between worlds. We offer more than just hope; we provide the life-changing evidence that your loved ones are still with you.
2. True Healing
Spiritual Healing isn’t just a tradition; it is a way to restore balance. Whether you are carrying emotional weight or physical stress, our healers provide a conduit for restorative, replenishing energy.
3. A Grounded Philosophy
We don't ask for blind faith. We explore the Science and Philosophy of Spirit. The natural laws that help you make sense of the world and your purpose within it.

Our Mission Statement - The Pillars of Our Understanding
The Purpose Behind the Practice
Our mission is simple: to teach and proclaim the Science, Philosophy, and Religion of Spiritualism. We aim to remove the fear of death, empower the individual to take personal responsibility for their growth, and demonstrate that the "veil" between worlds is simply a doorway to the next stage of existence.

- Science: The Search for Evidence - We don't expect you to believe something just because it’s written in a book. We treat spiritual phenomena as a field of discovery. Through mediumship and the study of consciousness, we investigate the "how" and "why" of spirit communication. For us, the proof of life after death is a demonstrated fact, not a mystery.
- Philosophy: The Logic of Life - Our philosophy is the study of the Natural Laws that govern our universe, both the physical world we see and the spiritual world we feel. It’s about using reason and common sense to understand our purpose. We take the lessons learned from Spirit and apply them to our daily lives, helping us live with more wisdom and clarity.
- Religion: The Practice of Love - To us, "religion" isn't about rituals or judgment; it’s about connection. It is the way we strive to live in harmony with the creative force of life and with one another. Our religion is found in our conduct, our character, and our commitment to leaving the world a little brighter than we found it.
